Medical Device vs. Pharmaceutical Markets -- Does One Size (i.e., Analysis) Fit All?

    12 PM EST

Medical device and pharmaceutical products are highly valuable, highly regulated and highly scrutinized areas in health care provision. Mergers continue to occur in both spaces at a rapid rate. Do the similarities end there, however? How consistent should the merger analyses be for medical device and pharmaceutical transactions just because the two products fall under the broad provision of health care? This panel will compare regulatory schemes, product development approaches and other industry factors regarding medical devices and pharmaceuticals, review the current approach to merger analysis in both spaces, and discuss whether there is a need for updated approaches going forward.
