    LGBT-Friendly Affordable Senior Housing: Learning

    1 PM EST

Lack of federal fair housing protections create housing vulnerabilities and opportunities for discrimination against LGBT older adults. In response to the growing needs of the nearly 3 million LGBT older adults in the United States, communities are beginning to develop LGBT-friendly senior properties.  These are inclusive communities where both LGBT older adults as well as their cis gender and straight ally counterparts are welcomed with culturally competent staff and services.  Participants on the webinar will learn more about the housing issues facing LGBT older adults in the United States as well as SAGE's National LGBT Elder Housing Initiative.   This session will also focus on specific community responses to the housing needs of their LGBT older adults.  Case studies highlighted will include New York City, New York and San Francisco, California.
