    Client Intake - Best Practices

    12 PM EST

This is the first episode of a twelve part teleconference series on best practices for managing litigation cases.  Each part will focus on a specific aspect of a litigation case starting with Client Intake all the way through the Appeals process.  Our speakers will be well known attorneys, experts, and consultants who will provide valuable insight on each step in the general path that a litigation matter follows.  The first part of the series focuses on Client Intake –

Do you have one of “those” clients?  You know the one – they do not give you the full story, they try to hide information, they have unrealistic expectations of their case, and, to top it off, they are slow to pay you (if they even do pay you).  Law firms big and small have these types of clients and issues.  The trick to avoiding these types of clients is to have a strong client intake process.

The initial meeting with a prospective client is often critical for your practice as it “sets the stage” for your relationship.  This one hour panel discussion will provide an overview of best practices and pitfalls to avoid in the client intake process as well as a question and answer period for attendees.  Topics will include:

    ·         Steps to take in pre-screening clients,

    ·         Fee arrangements,

    ·         Vetting your prospect to understand their financial viability,

    ·         The types of information you should request / obtain during the intake process,

    ·         Best practices for conflict checks,

    ·         Best practices for researching your prospective client’s claims, and

    ·         Best practices in resolving disputes before filing a claim.

    Moderator:

Lauren Marsicano Associate, Liebler, Gonzalez & Portuondo
