Transgender and Other LGBT Issues in the Workplace
1 PM EDT
Navigating today's employment discrimination territory is a winding road. This session will focus on the EEOC's position that transgender individuals are protected from discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 because transgender discrimination is discrimination based on "sex". We will also focus on the recent March 2016 EEOC lawsuit challenging sexual orientation discrimination as gender bias prohibited by Title VII. Applicable state law will also be addressed. We'll help you identify transgender and LGBT issues in the workplace, as well as discuss best practices for creating policies consistent with EEOC and OSHA guidance, and preventing workplace harassment.
