    Description:
BIS published its Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on November 19th requesting comments on how to identify "emerging technologies" in 14 broad categories such as Artificial Intelligence that will be subject to new export controls. BIS has received more than 200 comments and now must decide what comes next. Come and listen to BIS's Director of Regulatory Policy Hillary Hess, Nancy Kook and Kirsten Mortimer tell us about:

    1) What the ANPRM comments have suggested should be considered an emerging technology?
    2) How is BIS considering issuing proposed regulations to control emerging technologies.
    3) Options for BIS to interface with our multilateral export regime partners to attempt to make sure these new controls are not unilateral.
    4) What BIS wants to hear from industry -- and when.
