    2018 Affordable Housing and CED Boot Camp

    This conference promises to be engaging and informative and will include a combination of workshops, panels, and simulations that focus on the core and emerging areas in the field of affordable housing and community development law. There will also be time for networking with colleagues and friends, enjoying the many sights of Boston, and visiting some successful affordable housing projects in the city. 

    Introductory Workshops, led by seasoned lawyers with immense knowledge, will include sessions on:

    • Types of Section 8 Assistance and How to Leverage Them;
    • Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD), Program Basics and Closing a RAD Deal
    • Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program;
    • Drafting and Negotiating a Partnership Agreement; and
    • Understanding Federal Financing - FHA, GSEs, Home Loan Banks and the Fed

    Advanced Workshops, which will encourage interactive industry roundtable discussions, will include sessions on:

    • Issues Arising from the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act;
    • Hot Topics in RAD;
    • PRAC Conversions and Repositioning;
    • Health Care and Housing;
    • How HUD and State Housing Finance Agencies Work Together and Strategies for Working with Local and State Governmental Agencies; and
    • Fair Housing Act As It Turns 50

    CLE CREDIT: The ABA directly applies for and ordinarily receives CLE credit for ABA programs in AK, AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, GA, GU, HI, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MN, MS, MO, MP, MT, NH, NM, NV, NY, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, PR, SC, TN, TX, UT, VT, VA, VI, WA, WI, and WV. These states sometimes do not approve a program for credit before the program occurs. This course is expected to qualify for 6.0 CLE credit hours in 60-minute states, and 7.2 credit hours in 50-minute states. This transitional program is approved for both newly admitted and experienced attorneys in NY. Attorneys may be eligible to receive CLE credit through reciprocity or attorney self-submission in other states.
