Development by Agreement: A Tool Kit for Land Developers and Local Government, Second Edition
The ABA Task Force for American Democracy and Troutman Pepper are thrilled to co-sponsor a 3-part CLE series that will explore a lawyer's unique role in supporting fundamental elements of American democracy. Esteemed panelists will discuss (1) the rule of law; (2) civil discourse; and (3) election integrity. This first session will educate lawyers on the concept of the rule of law, how it serves as the foundation of our democracy, and how lawyers have a unique opportunity and obligation to support and defend it.

CLE made easy
ABA members have unlimited access to over 500 free CLE webinars and on-demand programs in the Member Benefit Library. New programs added weekly.
Closed Captioned.
This session is designed specifically to engage young lawyers in recognizing their crucial role in the preservation of democracy and the rule of law and to provide a blueprint for involvement. The program will: explore the current risks to American democracy and the rule of law; highlight the duty lawyers have to defend these principles; understand the unique challenges many communities are facing at this time in our history, including Native Americans; and provide tools for attendees to return to their communities better informed, inspired, and energized to become ambassadors for democracy and the rule of law.
Featured panelists include the Honorable Judge J. Michael Luttig, co-chair of the ABA Task Force for American Democracy; ABA President Mary Smith; and Lauren Stiller Rikleen, Executive Director of Lawyers Defending American Democracy and vice-chair of the Advisory Commission to the ABA Task Force for American Democracy. The session will be moderated by Jose Castro, the Civic Engagement Director for the Young Lawyers Division of the ABA.
