Attorneys working in domestic violence, child custody, and other family law matters have an opportunity to talk with clients about risks associated with firearms when they or other family members are in crisis. Faculty will share information about responsible ways to have those conversations, present options for temporary offsite storage when clients own or have access to firearms and introduce other methods for reducing risks under a variety of circumstances including when there are firearms prohibitions in place. Practical tips and examples of retainer agreements and parenting plans designed to increase safety for clients, attorneys, and the broader community will also be discussed.
