Her Story: The Resilient Woman Lawyer's Guide to Conquering Obstacles, Book 2
In 2005, disabled activists of color, and members of the Sins Invalid collective, Patty Berne, Mia Mingus, and Stacey Milbern launched the framework of "disability justice" to expand upon the "disability rights" movement, which established civil rights for people with disabilities. Disability justice is about looking at the fight for inclusion and equity through the lens of multi-marginalized disabled individuals (Black, Indigenous, people of color, LGBTQIA+ individuals, women, and immigrants) and the specific challenges they encounter due to multiple systems of oppression.
