Paula Frederick, General Counsel for the State Bar of Georgia and Chair of the Coordinating Council of the Center for Professional Responsibility, with the help of Justice Daniel Crothers of the North Dakota Supreme Court and Chair of the ABA Standing Committee on Professional Regulation and Professor Bruce Green, Louis Stein Chair at Fordham Law and Chair of the ABA Standing Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility, will showcase the breadth of the Center's recent efforts.
The panel will discuss the ongoing work of the Standing Committee on Ethics and recent ABA Formal Opinions 505 (Fees Paid in Advance for Contemplated Services); 506 (Responsibilities Regarding Nonlawyer Assistants); 507 (Office Sharing Arrangements with Other Lawyers), and 508 (The Ethics of Witness Preparation). They will cover amendments to Model Rule 1.16 that address anti-money laundering efforts and will update you on the Center's Issues Paper on the systemwide lawyer regulation and practice issues presented if permissible cross-border practice were expanded. And finally, they will comment on the new U.S. Supreme Court Code of Conduct along with other ethics initiatives underway at the Center and around the country.
