With current membership at 157 countries and applications topping 275,000 a year, the PCT is one of the most successful international IP initiatives of all time. However, it is not an easy system to master; its procedure is complex, its regulations are opaque, and its processes are not intuitive. The purpose of this webinar is to demystify the PCT and help participants become better PCT practitioners. Based on the presenters' own experience and drawing from their recently released ABA-IPL publication, The Practitioner's Guide to the PCT, the webinar will take participants through the various stages of the PCT process, with examples, strategies, tips on avoiding pitfalls, and the questions that need to be addressed to move from one stage to the next.
Starting with the basic question of whether to file a PCT application, the focus of the webinar will include choosing the appropriate Receiving Office and International Searching Authority, avoiding application traps, withdrawing applications or accelerating examination, filing amendments, troubleshooting and correcting mistakes, selecting national stage countries, and managing the national and regional stage process. The PCT's benefits are many. This webinar will hopefully allow participants to take better advantage of them.
