Legal ethics can be complicated in its nuance, but by focusing on some simple tips and risk avoidance techniques, practitioners can reduce their risk of legal malpractice claims or bar grievances. Ethics issues are also in a constant state of evolution, most recently driven by the pandemic (and attorneys working and practicing from home) and by advances in technology. This presentation will address some complicated ethics questions bearing on how to communicate with clients (including best practices for text messaging with clients), resolving conflicts, relying on nonlawyers for assistance, and documenting a client file.
Melissa Lessell, a Partner at Deutsch Kerrigan, and Alanna Clair, a Partner at Dentons, will examine practical tips for how to navigate ethical landmines in practice and answer questions you may have always wondered about, but never thought to ask.
