Model Rules of Professional Conduct, 2024 Edition
This program will review how unethical conduct is handled by a small practitioner and bar counsel. First, we will hear from a small firm family practitioner, who encountered unethical conduct by opposing counsel, describing how he approached the situation. The program will then shift to a discussion by bar counsel regarding how she and her agency proceeded with the matter.

This seminar will allow the audience to hear from a small firm family practitioner, who encountered unethical conduct by opposing counsel, describing how he approached the situation. The attorney will describe several difficult situations that he experienced, two of which required formal reports to bar counsel. For each matter, he will talk about his interactions with the clients, opposing counsel, and the bar regulators.
The program will then shift to a discussion by bar counsel regarding how she and her agency proceeded with the matter. She will address the rules of professional conduct implicated, how the cases were handled, and the resulting discipline imposed. This will be a unique opportunity to hear about the disciplinary process from divergent perspectives. The panel will highlight Model Rules 1.7, 1.16, 5.5, 8.3, and 8.4, among others.
