The panel of speakers are all data protection law specialists in their jurisdictions and will outline the latest developments in data protection and privacy laws in the UK and Europe, Canada, the US and India including latest key cases, enforcement decisions and approaches taken by the relevant national supervisory authorities and regulators. The panel will consider the impact these developments may have on the franchise relationship and key personal data will be discussed together with an analysis of the risks and obligations which flow from this and the impact this may have on the data subjects particularly on termination of the franchise relationship.
At the end of this program you will be able to:
- Identify the latest developments in privacy law in the UK and Europe, Canada and India
- Identify the current enforcement approaches and trends demonstrated by supervisory authorities in these jurisdictions
- Use this information to analyze the risk for clients doing business in these countries and advise clients on the necessary steps required and the potential risks
- Identify the risks in the franchise relationship associated with the classification of the franchise as a joint controller, data processor or separate data controller and the contractual steps that may need to be taken to ensure compliance and mitigate the risks
