      This is Part I of an ABA Staff Intellectual Property Training Series offered in the Winter/Spring 2023. Part I covers Trademarks and Trade Secrets. This training will allow you to understand how to protect ABA trademarks, how to spot and avoid trademark infringement, and the best practices for keeping ABA's trade secrets confidential.

      Part I of the ABA Staff Intellectual Property Training Series will focus on 2 main topics in Intellectual Property Law: Trademarks and Trade Secrets. Trademark discussion will define and give examples of trademarks, explain the process and benefits of trademark registration, provide tips on trademark maintenance, and finish with a discussion on spotting and avoiding trademark infringement. The second half of the presentation will focus on trade secrets. The presenter will define and give examples of trade secrets, explain the necessity and utility of a company privacy policy, and finish with discussion on best safeguards for protecting trade secrets and confidential information.
