The targeted audience are new attorneys or practicing attorneys who recently started working on commercial real estate transactions. The panel will explain the background of title insurance, and the role that the title insurance company plays in the transaction. The panel will explain the ALTA Title Commitments, Proformas, Owner's and Lender's Policies, as well as touch on the main requested endorsements and the reasons to get them. The panel will discuss the roles of the escrow officers, title officers, and underwriters. The panel will explain the main underwriting considerations and requirements and will point out the most commonly arising matters that delay or cause difficulty in closing the transactions. Time permitting, the panel might also touch on the basics of the ALTA surveys and zoning reports.
The ABA will seek 1.5 hours of CLE credit in 60-minute states, and 1.8 hours of CLE credit for this program in 50-minute states.
