ESG investing could carry risk, and risk that is not as apparent as you might think. ESG topics including environment, Covid19, data privacy, #metoo, the opioid crisis, and more, are factors that are now the driving force behind many securities class action cases seen today. Expert and experienced practitioners, such as litigators, academics, and investors, will discuss current cutting edge ESG considerations and their impact in the field of securities litigation. BLB&G Partners John Rizio-Hamilton and Rebecca Boon, Skadden Partner Anita Brandy, Arjuna Capital Managing Partner and Portfolio Manager Natasha Lamb, and University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School ILE Presidential Professor and Co-Director Lisa Fairfax, will come together to discuss high profile ESG issues from various perspectives. The panelists come from all sides of the practice space, providing insight from both the plaintiff and defense side of ESG-related securities litigation, insights from an academic perspective, as well as from an investor perspective that will speak to investors' concerns, experiences, and priorities, with respect to ESG matters. The discussion will include the business case for ESG, how ESG considerations are playing principal roles in securities litigation, the materiality of ESG-related disclosures to investors, evolving ESG disclosure requirements, and how securities litigation is one engagement tool that investors can use to accomplish their ESG goals.
