The practice of law is a fast-paced, demanding profession and the level of acute and chronic stress is very high. This has only been exacerbated over the past couple of years by pandemic-related changes that were forced upon the legal profession, and the "return to normal" must include a reckoning with the struggles and trauma. As we move forward, lawyers must learn to cultivate self-care to better serve their clients and themselves. This course helps attorneys learn to become resilient so that they will not just survive but thrive in the practice of law and all domains of life. The speakers will provide a basic understanding of stress, what happens when we are faced with stress, and how some stress can actually be beneficial; how to build resilience and develop a growth mindset to reframe life’s challenges; explain a simple and practical mindfulness practice for maintaining calm in stressful situations; and demonstrate a Qigong routine for improving flexibility and focus with gentle body movement.
