      With the staggering growth in opinions given in international finance transactions, U.S. lawyers are confronted regularly with issues they do not typically face in domestic U.S. practice. Although the opinions themselves may look similar, opinions in cross-border transactions are different in important ways because the laws of multiple countries are implicated and lawyers from different countries must interact in the absence of the shared framework that U.S. lawyers from different states rely on. This program will focus on practical problems and solutions: common obstacles, typical sources of misunderstanding, and ways of reducing friction and cost -- all in a context of increasing convergence among U.S. and non-U.S. bar groups.
