A Comprehensive Guide to Wellness in Law
Using a panel of experts in grief and trauma, this program will bring an inter-disciplinary approach to trauma and grief in the legal profession. With licensed attorneys and a licensed psychologist presenting, we will look into both the practical and psychological facets of grief and trauma, discussing what it is and how individuals can navigate the complexities of trauma and grief both for themselves and with their clients. This program will emphasize how to protect yourself professionally from vicarious emotional impacts as well as strategies for understanding and healing your own personal trauma.

Because of the work lawyers do, many are perched in the pathway of client trauma and prone to experiencing vicarious trauma by absorbing others' stories, pain, and fear. However, most legal professionals do not yet acknowledge or understand the impacts they may be experiencing, instead seeking to bravely soldier on through their grief. Yet, unresolved trauma and grief can lead to serious challenges both personally and professionally. This program will teach lawyers not only how to move through their own grief and trauma to improve their practice and their relationships with colleagues and clients, but also how to work with clients facing trauma and grief in order to be better advocates and more effective attorneys.
