Stories Mediators Tell - World Edition
This program is intended to promote the use of mediation as a time and cost saving measure for administrative proceedings. Mediation would help administrative tribunals with (1) very heavy caseloads and (2) work with cases and issues that are suitable for mediation. The panel discussion will examine the benefits and drawbacks that experienced mediators encountered in their work.

This panel discussion on mediation will focus on the advantages and disadvantages of incorporating mediation into the work of an administrative law judge. The goal of this program is to promote adoption of mediation programs as a time-saving and cost-effective measure for administrative tribunals with very heavy caseloads handling issues suitable for alternative dispute resolutions.
Panelists will discuss the types of cases or issues most suitable for mediation; how their tribunals use mediation to resolve contested issues of fact or law; and how each agency or tribunal chooses mediators for various cases or issues. Panelists will provide general observations on how well their mediation programs function; what they would change and what they would keep; and how they would make improvements in their programs. Panelists will also cover important considerations such as confidentiality and settlement enforcement.
