This session with explore the expanding Online Dispute Resolution movement. It will provide a brief overview of different types of ODR technologies that are already in use and based on AI and discuss the AI decision process by way of mind maps, nodes, and machine learning. Speakers and participants will examine the ethical concerns associated with ODR, with particular focus on the necessity of licensed attorney oversight of legal AI creation. Finally, some possible future alternatives for regulation of ODR systems will be analyzed.
At the end of the program, participants will:
- Develop a familiarity with resources on ODR, including the National Center for State Courts white paper discussing the development of ODR and sharing some best practices
- Be able to summarize the AI decision process by way of mind maps, nodes, and machine learning
- Analyze the ethical concerns, particularly the necessity of licensed attorney oversight of legal AI creation
- Discuss and evaluate future regulatory frameworks for ODR systems
