In its first year, the Biden administration has taken tangible steps to advance environmental justice (EJ) across the federal government through Executive Orders (EO 13985 and EO 14008) and policy. To that end, EPA has been directed to embed equity into all of its programs to ensure consistent and systematic fair, just, and impartial treatment of all individuals. EPA leadership is implementing this direction to ensure environmental laws are enforced to equitably deliver benefits to all individuals and communities. This session will provide an in-depth review of the above-referenced Biden administration's EJ policies and analyze how EPA's enforcement focus on addressing pollution in overburdened communities could impact the regulated community.
