    During this 3-hour program, seasoned panelists will focus on these topics:

    1-hour (including 10 minutes for questions)

    • Immigration Issues & the Military - The Basics: During this session, panelists will provide a background about immigration law and military service, along with enlistment and draft rules, security clearances, naturalization laws, and denaturalization. Participants will also learn about the immigration status and the law for military family members, including out of status family members, foreign family members, adopted children, and naturalization of parents, spouses, and children.

    1-hour (including 10 minutes for questions)

    • Military-Related Naturalization: This section will provide details about the process of military-related naturalization. This will examine the naturalization of military members, focusing on Sections 328 and 329 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), processing of cases, and ongoing litigation. Panelists will also focus on the naturalization of family members by looking at expedited naturalization under INA 319(b), overseas naturalization of spouses and children, automatic derivation of citizenship, and The Child Citizenship Act of 2000 cases.

    1-hour (including 10 minutes for questions)

    • Military Family Member Immigration Benefits: Presenters will provide an overview of "regular" processing of family members, which will include the three step overseas processing and the "one step" processing in the United States. Participants will also learn about Parole in Place (PIP) for military and veteran family members, who qualifies and who does not, how to file, and what to do after PIP is granted. This session will also examine deferred action, who qualifies and who does not, how to file, and what to do after deferred action is granted. Panelists will also discuss family members in removal proceedings and proposed legislation.
