The global pandemic has accelerated the adoption of nascent technologies, especially technologies that allow employees to work from home and maintain connections with customers. Like all businesses, law firms were deeply impacted by COVID-19 and seismic shifts in workplace norms. According to Bloomberg Law, at least 75% of employees in the legal industry have been working from home during lockdowns.
However, the "workplace revolution" is likely to continue as businesses emerge from lockdown. In a legal industry survey from Loeb Leadership, 67% of respondents desired the flexibility to work from home in a post-COVID world. Long-term shifts toward flexible work will require firms to think differently about their tech stacks. In order to retain top talent, attract top clients, and maximize their billable hours, firms should empower their workforce to connect and collaborate, to support clients, and to secure their data.
