This panel will discuss SDM, a less restrictive alternative to guardianship that allows older adults and individuals with disabilities to make their own decisions, with the support of people they trust, terminate guardianships and restore an individual's right to make their own decisions. Attendees will learn how to assess a case for rights restoration, collect evidence to demonstrate your client's capacity, and craft arguments to present SDM as a less restrictive alternative to guardianship.
