This program examines what went right in the 2020 Presidential election from the standpoint of cybersecurity, technological preparedness, and fairness. Our panelists key in on the elections aftermath as the country emerges from the adjudication of over 53 challenges filed and litigated mostly in battleground states.
Topics of discussion include
how factors including (1) a multitude of trained, dedicated, and competent election personnel who did their jobs and (2) the nations judiciary applying the rule of law in deciding each challenge, enabled us to carry out a successful and secure election in all 50 states and territories an exploration of how the judiciary grounded each decision on actual, provable facts, established legal principles grounded in election law, and evidence that confirmed the security and integrity of our electoral process particularly from a cybersecurity perspective, notwithstanding an unprecedented hyper-partisan environment; and, an assessment of the many pre-election cybersecurity concerns and post-election audits and recounts, and their implications for best practices with respect to election security, resilient voting systems, and technological security of the electoral process, as well as how the absence of evidence of systemic fraud that would have changed the outcome, the absence of cyber-threats or state-sponsored hackers, and other specific factors resulted in what the former Director of CISA called the most secure election in American history. Providing this insightful program are two leading lights in the area of election law and cybersecurity:
Frances Floriano Goins (Partner | Co-Group Leader, Financial Services & Securities Litigation | Co-Group Leader, Cybersecurity & Privacy, Ulmer LLP)Benjamin E.
