Family Advocate Summer 2006: Vol. 29, No. 1
The Westmoreland County 2020 Child Welfare Summit, is designed to provide legal principles and best practices for child welfare professionals amid the global health pandemic. Achieving Permanency in the COVID Era will help participants understand the meaning and need for both legal and relational permanency for families in dependency proceedings and what achieving permanency means.
The ABA is only seeking MCLE credit for this program in Pennsylvania. No credit will be available in other states.
Closed Captioned.
Achieving Permanency in the COVID Era will outline the broad concept of permanency in dependency cases in juvenile court and then focus in on definitions of legal permanency and relational permanency. One aspect of legal permanency to be highlighted is concurrent planning, the ongoing process of working towards one legal permanency goal (typically reunification) while at the same time establishing and implementing an alternative permanency goal and plan that is worked on concurrently to move children and youth more quickly to a safe and stable permanent family. This is a process that involves concurrent, rather than sequential permanency planning efforts. Participants will be guided to understand the importance of this best practice.
