Updates on Consumer Protection Policies for Servicemembers: This presentation???from Mike Saunders and Aniela Szymanski from Veterans Education Success, and Jennifer Davis from the National Military Family Association???will focus on consumer protection policies, discussing protections within the Military Lending Act (MLA) and Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA), along with relief under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program for servicemembers and veterans. Participants will also learn about the SCRA amendments extending protections to servicemembers and their families facing legal and financial challenges due to the military's stop movement order during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Consumer Law Highlights from the Federal Trade Commission: Carole Reynolds from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will highlight consumer protections as to preauthorized electronic fund transfers, gift cards, debit cards, and various emergent payments, under the Electronic Fund Transfer Act, limits on liability and dispute procedures, the impact of COVID-19, and scams. This session will also address the FTC's Holder Rule and the Credit Practices Rule; various unfair and deceptive practices; and recent FTC enforcement actions and initiatives that can affect servicemembers, veterans, and their families.
Resources to Assist Victims of Financial Fraud: Shay Cook, from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Investor Education Foundation, will include a discussion focusing on resources for consumer advocates and others that interface with victims of financial fraud. Participants will receive resources that provide strategies for addressing major types of financial crime???including investment fraud, identity theft, mortgage and lending fraud, and mass marketing scams.
