In April 2020, the ABA Dispute Resolution Section Task Force on Screening for Elder Abuse and Neglect for Mediators completed a 3-year process of creating Screening Guidelines for Elder Mediators. Although there have been screening tools for mediators for Domestic Violence for many years, there has not been a tool for Elder Mediators up until now. The distinguished panel of Task Force members will discuss the need for screening in Eldercare Mediations, best practices for screening, and the screening tool itself that was created by the Task Force. You will learn how to use the screening tool for maximum protection of older adults in the mediation process.
