Closed Captioned. Ransomware is a growing threat for businesses and organizations of all sizes, including law firms. Attackers encrypt the victim's data and require payment by cryptocurrency for the decryption key. Some attackers now also steal the data before encrypting it and demand ransom to prevent disclosure.

This program will provide an overview of ransomware and discuss the following questions

    • What is ransomware?
    • What are best practices for preventing a ransomware attack?
    • How should victims respond to an attack? Should victims pay the ransom?
    • Is a ransomware attack a data breach? Are attorneys required to notify their clients?
    • What are recovery strategies victims can use after an attack?
