Like the prior webinars in this series, this session is designed as a practical training for pro bono attorneys who have minimal experience representing low-income taxpayers in collection cases. This workshop will build on Part III in the series which introduced the Offer-in-Compromise (OIC) process by focusing on specific taxpayer fact patterns to address tough issues. Attorneys participating in the Section’s pro bono programs are encouraged to participate. Seasoned practitioners in low-income controversy representation will guide participants through the process of completing an OIC, examples of how to address some of the more complicated situations commonly facing low-income taxpayers and techniques for negotiating once the OIC has been submitted. It is recommended that participants listen to the prior webinars in this series first as they build on each other. They can be accessed for free here.
