Can an original narrative be created by artificial intelligence? What about music that is created by a computer program at the push of a single button? How much human input is required to move the creative work into the realm of copyright?  On the flip side, can the actions by artificial intelligence result in copyright infringement attributable to the human pushing the button?

In addition to explaining current copyright law (both U.S. and international) and how it relates to issues arising from the growth of artificial intelligence, faculty will discuss:

    • Arguments surrounding the protections for what are arguably non-human creations
    • Policy arguments surrounding whether to stay with the status quo or expand its reach to cover non-human creations
    • Real-world, real people liability arising from AI-created infringement
