This panel will quickly bring attendees current with a short “State of our PFAS Challenge” that summarizes where the science stands with current state and EPA regulatory responses.  Our panelists will provide direct insights into the State versus EPA regulatory responses to the emerging contaminant threat from PFAS, as they provide personal lessons learned from  leadership roles in two states on the front line: Vermont and New Hampshire.  The panel will finish by discussing potential future PFAS regulatory scenarios with an overview of programmatic and stakeholder implications.

    Panelists:

Trey Martin is Of Counsel to Downs Rachlin PLLC in Montpelier, Vermont, former Deputy Secretary of Natural Resources and Secretary of Administration under Gov. Peter Shumlin.

Tom Burack is a shareholder with Sheehan Phinney Bass & Green, PA in Manchester, NH, the former Commissioner of the NH Department of Environmental Services, and a Fellow of the American College of Environmental Lawyers.

Karen Kinsella is a senior chemist at GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. based in its Glastonbury, Connecticut office.  She has a Ph.D. in soil chemistry and microbiology from the University of Connecticut and is active in multiple roles on the NGWA PFAS initiatives.

    Moderator:

Muriel Robinette is a Senior Consultant at GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. based in its Bedford, New Hampshire office.  As a former assistant professor at the University of Idaho, her consultancy has focused on Environmental Forensics and expert testimony.
