Regulations Under the Families FirstCoronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), by Paul Bittner - The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), signed into law on March18, 2020, creates two types of emergency paid leave in response to the COVID-19pandemic. The Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act (Emergency PSL) entitles certainemployees working for employers with fewer than 500 employees to take up to 80 hoursof paid sick leave over a two-week period for specified COVID-19-related reasons.The Emergency Family and Medical Leave Expansion Act (Expanded FMLA) permitscertain employees working for employers with fewer than 500 employees to take upto 12 weeks of expanded leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), ofwhich 10 weeks are paid, for specified COVID-19-related reasons.
