Same-Sex Marriage Is Settled, But Important Family Law Questions Remain

It may be easy for some of us to say that people who chose to live together without the benefit of marriage have assumed the risk and that they will not be treated in the same way as married couples when the relationship ends. It may not be as easy to reach that conclusion if the lack of a formal marriage was not the result of a deliberate choice, but an effect of a system, which has now been determined to deny equal protection.
