Alternative Paths to Careers in ADR

Most members of the American Bar Association Section of Dispute Resolution are lawyers who are interested in dispute resolution. Trained as advocates and counselors at law, they employ mediation, arbitration, and other processes to help people settle cases outside the courtroom. But collaborative problem-solving is not always a natural extension of the practice of law, and a law degree is not a prerequisite for becoming a great dispute resolution practitioner.
