Section Names Diversity Fellows

Major James M. Durant II, Richard M. Macias, and Judy A. Toyer are the Section's 2000-01 diversity fellows. The fellowship program is funded as part of the Section's ongoing project to promote ethnic diversity and leadership within its ranks. Each participant will be named to Section committees, national programs, and other leadership initiatives.

"Diversity in our membership brings a variety of unique and valuable skills and perspectives to our Section," said Wynn A. Gunderson, Section chair. "We will continue to work to involve lawyers of all races, ethic backgrounds and genders, to foster the spirit of inclusiveness in all of the Section's activities."

The Section also adopted plans to increase diversity in CLE programs and on panels, as well as appoint liaisons to minority bar associations. In addition, the Section hopes to create a Lawyers of Color Caucus Group to provide opportunities for networking and professional development.
