Group and Committee News: Committee Spotlight
The Retail Leasing Committee is fast approaching the first anniversary of its popular bi-monthly conference call series, "The Nuts and Bolts of Retail Leases." The program is designed to provide newly practicing lawyers, as well as those new to the retail leasing field, with a basic understanding of the provisions and concepts that are unique to retail leases.
Each call is FREE to members of the Retail Leasing Committee and addresses a separate provision in a retail lease. The calls are co-hosted by experienced lawyers who present thoughts on retail lease provisions from both a landlord's and tenant's perspective. In addition to learning the theoretical applications of various lease provisions, attendees gain valuable, practical insight into how those provisions are actually negotiated in the current leasing environment. Over the course of the series, co-hosts will fully negotiate a retail lease so that attendees may gain a broad understanding of the relevant issues.
To date, the Retail Leasing Committee has successfully hosted six calls and is always looking for volunteers to assist with future calls. The next program is scheduled for September 17, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. Central (Dial-in #: 800-735-5968; No pass code is required), and the topic will be "Casualty and Condemnation." For more information or to volunteer, please contact Murphy McMillan, Vice Chair of the Retail Leasing Committee at email@example.com.
