The Lawyer's Guide to Increasing Revenue: Unlocking the Profit Potential in Your Firm
by Arthur Greene

The Lawyer's Guide Increasing Revenue: Unlocking the Profit Potential in Your Firm

If you are ready to look beyond cost-cutting and short-term solutions, and toward new revenue opportunities, then The Lawyer's Guide to Increasing Revenue will show you how you can achieve growth using the resources you already have at your firm. The vast majority of law firms continue to leave dollars on the table. Now you can ensure your firm isn't one of them.

Discover the factors that affect your law firm's revenue production, how to evaluate them, and how to take specific action steps designed to increase your returns. The book will also show you how to fully develop your plans into a multi-year strategy for improved long-term financial results.

Many firms spend a lot of wasted energy paving the way to profitability only through reducing expenses or adjusting billable hours and hourly rates. But using only these approaches can oftentimes negatively impact staff morale and client relationships. Now you can learn to channel those same efforts toward implementing the effective revenue approaches outlined in this book, still using the resources you already have in place!

Included with the book is a CD-ROM featuring sample policies, worksheets, plans, and documents designed to aid implementation of the ideas presented in the book.

Winning Alternatives to the Billable Hour
Thursday, November 20, 2008 from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. ET

Program Description:

Is there a way to move from the billable hour and increase client satisfaction, as well as pump up the bottom line of the firm? As the legal market becomes increasingly more competitive, lawyers must find ways to differentiate their services and illustrate the value they bring their clients. One way to do this is by providing alternatives to the traditional way lawyers value their services, namely the billable hour.
In this teleconference you will hear from a lawyer who literally wrote the book on alternatives to the billable hour, as well as discuss how to put these practices to work every day.  Attend this teleconference and live audio webcast to learn:

  • How clients perceive the "value" of legal services
  • How lawyers can assess the value of their own services
  • The potential points of difference between these perspectives
  • Specific alternative billing structures

Program Faculty:

  • David J. Bilinsky (Moderator), Practice Management Advisor, Law Society of British Columbia, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
  • Christopher B. Marston, CEO, Exemplar Companies, Inc., Boston, MA
  • Mark Robertson, Robertson & Williams, Inc., Oklahoma City, OK

Regardless of its size, location, or type of practice, every law firm needs sound, workable financial management practices to weather the bad times, and prosper during the good. Unfortunately, most firms can't afford a highly skilled Chief Financial Officer to handle their financial affairs, yet they need to develop a well-organized and well-executed financial plan to reach their financial goals and objectives. This book will help firms in this effort.

This hands-on, how-to book will assist managing partners, law firm managers, and law firm accountants by providing them with the budgeting and financial knowledge they need to make the critical decisions. The newly revised second edition of Results-Oriented Financial Management describes the entire financial management process, from gathering a firm's historical data, to preparing and analyzing the overall financial plan. In discussing the different ways to set billing rates, calculate net income, and perform other financial tasks, Iezzi presents many options for the reader. Whether you're a financial novice or veteran manager, this book will help you examine every facet of your financial affairs from cash flow and budget creation to billing and compensation.
