Highlights: Philly Meeting Featured Essential E-Filing, Marketing Makeovers, and a Digital Discovery Showdown CLE

The Law Practice Management Section’s fall meeting, at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel in Philadelphia, PA showcased a new two day series of Continuing Legal Education programming.

Thursday’s series “ When in the Course of Electronic Events: An Essential Guide to E-Discovery and E-Filing” was focused around legal technology, including segments on the current rules of document preservation, retention and production, and e-filing. One of the highlights of the day was “ Oyez! Oyez! The Digital Discovery Showdown,” a mock motion hearing used as a platform to discuss and demonstrate an integrated approach to e-discovery. This popular program will be repeated at ABA TECHSHOW 2006.

Friday’s marketing series entitlted “ Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Business: A One-Day Law Marketing Seminar for the Busy Attorney,” took on a completely different purpose of providing attorneys with a lesson in law firm business development. During this packed day of law marketing programs, attendees learned about key elements in understanding how advertising and law marketing principles related to their practice of law. The vendor expo, which took place outside the meeting rooms, provided participants with a variety of marketing-related products and services. Three of the programs, " What Women (In-House Counsel) Want ” , “ Extreme Marketing Makeover 10x10 ", and “ The Art of Effective Public and Media Relations ,” were also produced, in cooperation with the ABA Center for CLE. as Teleconferences and Webcasts. These three programs are currently available through the ABA Webstore.

Both days provided attendees with pertinent information and new answers to common issues along with valuable contacts and friendships.Thank you to all of the attendees and speakers for choosing to further their knowledge on these important issues and for supporting the Law Practice Management Section.
