As we begin to conclude what has been a phenomenal bar year, Karen and I extend to you our personal invitation to our historical Division’s thank-you Spring Meeting in St. Thomas U.S. Virgin Islands, where we will be joined by the ABA Young Lawyers Division and the Virgin Islands Bar Association. The Spring Meeting between these three bar associations promises to be a fantastic and exceptionally memorable conference that you wouldn’t want to miss.
This joint meeting will be held at the fabulous Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort, an absolutely wonderful venue. Our host committee chair, Richard Evangelista, and his team of experts have labored to make this the absolute best GPSolo meeting to date. We have taken great strides to make this meeting economical for you, the traveler. For example, the registration cost is a mere $85, and the hotel room is $200 per night. (Mention the ABA GPSolo Spring Meeting.) Additionally, we have closely looked at travel costs. and the range is remarkable: $327 to $659. Finally, thanks to the VI Bar, some meals will be free of cost.
Regarding programming, we have dedicated an inordinate amount of energy and resources to bring you the very best CLE, featuring renowned presenters from across the United States. Additionally, the U.S. Supreme Court will conduct a swearing in ceremony for those of you desiring to become a member of either bar. ( Click here to download instructions to submit application.)
For our outreach program, we are joining the YLD with its national project— They Had a Dream Too: Young Leaders of the Civil Rights Movement. The project is designed to educate 11th- and 12th-grade students about the civil rights struggles that have occurred since the 1950s and to inspire them to become future leaders. In support of this project, we will venture to Ivanna Eudora Kean High School to address the students and present a gift to the school. We are also participating in a beach cleanup returning a local beach back to nature.
And what would a trip to the Caribbean be without Carnival on the Beach! Yes, on Friday, May 14th, you will be entertained and dazzled by an authentic Carnival celebration! Tickets can be purchased during registration for $85 each before April 14, 2010.
And guest, you are not forgotten. Thanks to our very own Tom Bolt, exciting adventure awaits you with tours of the historic downtown Charlotte Amalie and another exclusively for the shoppers with special pricing just for you. And for our bar kids, Sugar Bay has a Ben and Jerry’s ice cream bar, a movie theatre, bumper boats, pools, a waterfall, and an incredible beach. Last, as this venue speaks for itself, you will also be able to sports fish, snorkel, dive, and shop, or as many of us will certainly do, lie in the sun.
And, if St. Thomas is not enough for you, a six-dollar/20-minute ferry ride will take you to incredible St. John, which is two-thirds national park. There you will be able to explore the entire island either by tour or by renting a car. You can also snorkel in underwater surrealistic Virgin Islands National Park. Also, if you remember to bring your passport, you will be able to visit the British Virgin Islands, which is only a few miles away.
So there you have it—the GPSolo, YLD, and VI Bars wish to welcome you to paradise and thank you for your incredible service to others. Get your flights now while the prices are reasonable. Register and book your room before it is too late. Early bird registration ends on Wednesday, April 14, 2010.
