  • jennifer rose officially submitted her resignation as an officer of the ABA General Practice, Solo and Small Firm Division on May 7, 2009. The council has unanimously approved, ratified, and confirmed the designation of Joseph A. DeWoskin to succeed her as Vice Chair of the Division. Upon acceptance of this position, Joseph DeWoskin has decided to step down as chair of the Corporate Sponsor Committee. Brian Hermanson, current Vice Chair of the Corporate Sponsor Committee, will replace him as Chair, and Elio Martinez has been appointed to be Vice Chair of this committee. We appreciate your support during this transition and believe that the Division and committee will steam ahead under full power and not lose any momentum. We would like to thank jennifer rose for the great work she has done for the Division as an officer, and we look forward to her future contributions.

2009 GP|Solo Spring Meeting Recap »

Regretfully, the 2009 Spring Meeting to be held in Los Cabos San Lucas Mexico was cancelled due to the H1N1 Flu outbreak. A virtual Council Meeting is being considered.

The 2nd ABA National Conference on Employment of Lawyers With Disabilities »

The 2nd ABA National Conference on Employment of Lawyers with Disabilities will be held in Washington D.C. at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, on June 15–16, 2009. The conference will be hosted by the ABA Commission on Mental and Physical Disability Law and 2008–2009 ABA President H. Thomas Wells, Jr. It is cosponsored by the Association of Corporate Counsel and the Minority Corporate Counsel Association. The Conference is part of the ABA’s commitment to open the legal profession to lawyers with disabilities.

You must register for the ABA 2009 Annual Meeting to receive housing. A list of official ABA hotels, rates, amenities and locations can be found at Reservation requests should be directed only to Travel Planners, by registering online at or by using the registration form posted on the site.

CDS/Travel Planners will acknowledge your reservation request in writing within 72 hours (three business days) of receipt of your ABA registration. Hotels will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis. Choice of accommodations will become more limited as the deadline for registration approaches. A credit card with a valid expiration date (August 31, 2009, or later) is required to guarantee your hotel reservation. A customary one night’s deposit may be charged to your credit card days before your arrival (depending on hotel policies).
