Each year the Division’s Chair-Elect appoints more than 250+ members to leadership positions within the Division. This year, GP|Solo’s Chair–Elect, James M. Durant III will be appointing everything from active Committee and Board Chairs who attend all GP|Solo meetings to Committee Member appointments that work via Listserv. Applications due by March 20, 2009.
Call for 2009 Solo and Small Firm Awards Nominations »
The ABA General Practice, Solo and Small Firm Division is pleased to announce a call for nominations for its annual 2009 Solo and Small Firm awards. The annual awards program recognizes dedication to the practice of law as general practitioners or solo or small firm lawyers. Each year the Division honors outstanding solo and small firm practitioners, as well as bar leaders and bar associations at the Division’s Awards Ceremony held at the Spring Meeting. Recognition is given for Solo and Small Firm Lifetime Achievement, Solo and Small Firm Project Award and Solo and Small Firm Trainer Award.
WEST®, a Thomson Reuters business, is the co-sponsor of the Solo and Small Firm Lifetime Achievement, Solo and Small Firm Project Award and Solo and Small Firm Trainer Awards.

Berry’s involvement and leadership at the local bar level and community as well as within the American Bar Association has led to her next great accolade— the recipient of the ABA YLD’s 2008 Outstanding Young Lawyer Award. The award, in its second year, is given to a young lawyer who exhibits professional excellence, service to the profession and the bar, service to community, and/or who has a reputation for the advancement of legal ethics and professional responsibility.

The James Keane Award for Excellence in eLawyering gives recognition to law offices that have developed legal service innovations that are delivered over the Internet to individuals seeking legal services. Thus, the focus of the award is the innovative delivery of personal legal services, with special attention given to firms and entities that serve both moderate income individuals and the broad middle class. Stephanie L. Kimbro, attorney and co-founder of VLOTech, has been named the recipient of the 2009 American Bar Association’s James I. Keane Memorial Award for Excellence in eLawyering. Kimbro operates a VLOTech virtual law office (VLO) in North Carolina, and Kimbro Legal Services, providing estate planning and small business assistance online to clients state-wide.
