State of Diversity in the Legal Profession | An ABA Presidential Initiative
Thursday, February 12 | 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm | Sheraton Boston
Representatives from bar associations, law firms, public interest organizations, judiciary, corporations, and academia will offer oral testimony on this issue. Presentations will cover racial, ethnic, gender and LGBT diversity, as well as lawyers with disabilities.

Stakeholders in the legal profession are invited to provide information for this initiative by completing a short questionnaire.

The program will help judges and attorneys understand institutional racism and the disparities in the charging and sentencing of minorities in the courts.
Pipeline Diversity Roundtable III
Friday, February 13 | 10 am to Noon | Hynes Convention Center
A discussion of the educational pipeline to the legal profession. Participants will learn about the issues affecting students on the way to becoming lawyers and explore what is happening to expand diversity among students in the pipeline to the legal profession.
The New Administration, the New Congress and the Federal Judiciary: Judicial Appointments, Compensation, and Judicial Retention

Join this panel of veteran Potomac “insiders” for key insights into what to expect regarding federal judicial appointments (both at the White House and in the Senate) in the new administration, as well as predictions on “hot button” issues such as judicial compensation, court-stripping, cameras in the courtroom, ethics reform, and relations between the federal courts, the White House, and on Capitol Hill.

The Alexander Award recognizes exemplary leadership in diversity pipeline work by an individual or organization. The award will honor those demonstrating success working along the educational pipeline in a collaborative approach involving more than one segment of the continuum from K12 to high school to college to law school to the practice.
