You Can't Change What You Can't See: Interrupting Racial and Gender Bias in the Legal Profession

In partnership with the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA), the Commission is proud to release a research report, You Can't Change What You Can't See, designed to reduce the effects of bias in law firms and corporate legal departments.  The Center prepared the survey data for WorkLife Law at the University of California - Hastings.

Some of the findings include:

· Women lawyers of color were eight times more likely than white men to report that they had been mistaken for janitorial staff, administrative staff, or court personnel.

· Eighty percent of white men, but only 63% of white women, 59% of men of color, and 53% of women of color reported equal opportunities for high-quality assignments.
