Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion  Center

The ABA Coalition on Racial and Ethnic Justice (COREJ) examines issues stemming from the intersection of race and ethnicity with the legal system. COREJ partners with non-ABA entities to address these issues. We consider ourselves the conscience of the ABA when it comes to focusing on social justice issues effecting the too often voiceless and vulnerable among us.

As an integral part of the ABA’s Diversity and Inclusion Center, the Commission strives to eliminate bias around persons with disabilities, enhance diversity and inclusion, and foster the full and equal participation of law students and lawyers with disabilities in the profession.

The Hispanic Commission finds definition within the ABA’s collective mission to defend liberty and pursue justice and continued for two years as a presidential initiative. During that period, The Hispanic Commission sought to analyze and devise solutions regarding the key legal issues affecting Latinos, the largest growing segment of the American population. The Hispanic Commission addressed key issues, such as voting rights, immigration, civil rights, and access to the courts.

The mission of the ABA Commission on Racial and Ethnic Diversity in the Profession (CREDP) is to be a catalyst promoting diversity and inclusion within the legal profession and the ABA by facilitating the entry, participation and retention of diverse lawyers. The Commission achieves this by furthering the development of substantive programs and services in which diverse lawyers, law firms and law students will actively participate.

The American Bar Association's Commission on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI), as one of the four ABA Goal III Entities, leads the Association's commitment to diversity, inclusion and full and equal participation by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons in the Association, legal profession, and society.

The mission of the American Bar Association Commission on Women in the Profession is to secure full and equal participation of women in the ABA, the profession and the justice system.

Our Mission: Address the lack of substantial ethnic/racial diversity in the legal profession by identifying and supporting innovation in increasing diversity in the educational pathway to the profession.

The mission of the Advisory Council is to enhance collaboration, coordination, and communication with entities and groups across and beyond the ABA--to advance Goal III of the ABA: eliminating bias & enhancing diversity in the legal profession.
