Business enterprises, including law firms, frequently adopt and sometimes develop new digital technologies. A new technology is usually a mixed blessing. Its introduction may improve or add new capabilities to the enterprise. That’s the upside. But most new technologies are also honeycombed with flaws, limitations, deficiencies, and vulnerabilities (“faults”). Unless identified and remediated, faults may increase the chances the enterprise’s personnel will misuse the new technology with severe consequences. Unmanaged faults may also increase threats posed by bad actors (external or internal).
