Description
The Career Choice Series is designed to help you choose your career path. Whether you’re a law student, young lawyer, or transitioning attorney, find out what it’s like to work in various practice areas and the best way to position yourself to get there.
Ethics and professional responsibility are more than a class you take to prep for the bar exam, they can set you on an interesting and fulfilling career path where no case is the same and you are exposed to various other practice areas. Our speakers will explain what kind of ethics and professional responsibility they focus in, how they practice, what excites them about it, and how you can head down this path, too. Both our speakers started out in more traditional practice areas (intellectual property, antitrust, and personal injury) then switched into professional responsibility by working for state bar ethics hotlines for flexibility in their work schedules and continued on from there. Since this is a niche area, lawyers who practice in it are often sought after for their expertise as an expert on panels, as authors, and helping jurisdictions review and update their rules of professional conduct. It’s a great fit for someone who likes the flexibility of doing both litigation and policy work.
