As part of this program, ABA ROLI supported the establishment of seven probation offices, capacity-building of justice sector stakeholders to coordinate among offices and the expansion of the use of alternatives to incarceration (ATI), public awareness on ATI, and dialogue around the development of a national ATI framework. This program built upon the Sousse pilot supported by the US Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (USDOS/INL) and European Union (EU)-funded expansion efforts. ABA ROLI implemented this program with the International Legal Foundation (ILF), and in partnership with the Tunisian Ministry of Justice (MOJ), Comité Générale des Prisons et de la Rééducation (CGPR), courts (judges, including execution judges, and prosecutors), lawyers at the Tunisian Bar Association (TBA-ONAT), and Young Lawyers Association (YLA). ABA ROLI worked in seven target governorates: Ariana, Ben Arous, Beja, Gafsa, Mahdia, Medenine, and Sfax.
